The wonderful life of Leonardo da Vinci started on the 15th April in 1452, when, on a Tuscan spring night, in Anchiano, a small hamlet outside Vinci, near Florence, at three o'clock in the morning in the Da Vinci household a love child was born to Piero, the son of Sir Antonio, the notary, and Caterina, a young and pretty peasant, too poor to be the wife of a notary's son. Despite this, the child was brought up by the Da Vinci family and he grew up with the other children which Sir Piero subsequently had with his wife Albiera degh Amadori. Leonardo's education was certainly influenced by his morbid fascination for natural elements and phenomena and was encouraged by the enthusiasm of his uncle Francesco, Sir Piero's brother and his guide and the companion of the young man in everyday life.
